Dana Kuhn, RN!

Congrats to my sister in law, Dana on graduating and passing her boards!! She is officially a Registered Nurse! We went to Bismarck for her graduation. I didn't get any pics of her in her gown, but we had plenty of fun with family!

Boston!

I can't believe it's come and gone, but Boston 2012 is in the books! I think everyone saw all of my nervous wife facebook posts about how HOT it was race day. I believe about 6000 runners didn't even start the race as the BAA allowed anyone to defer until 2013 due to the high temps.

Well...not my hubby! He ran and most importantly, finished safely! Darren wasn't too excited about his time, but he knew after a few miles that he would have to dial back his speed if he wanted to cross the finish line!

Cheering Section!
Once the race was over, we were all in vacation mode. It was so much fun to spend time with the Kuhn's/Fields. 5 days were spent in Boston and the rest of the week was in Cape Cod.
Erick caught them!

Most of you know by now, but for those who haven't heard...we're expecting a baby in early November! We are at week 13 and so far, so good!

Catch Up

We've had a busy spring so far! Between my work travel schedule, Darren's marathon training and Nadia's gymnastics & swimming lessons...we're starting to see how busy life can be!

My Mom was here for almost 2 weeks helping us with Nadia. They had so much fun playing dolls and having picnics! It was hard for Nadia to say goodbye!

Darren only has a few weeks before the big race. He hurt his back on his last long run and he hasn't been able to run much since. We're hoping that with some rest, he'll be good to go on on April 16th! For those watching on TV...he'll be sporting a white shirt with North Dakota logo on the front. I'm sure he'll be up front with the fast guys so be sure to watch! :)

Logan and Krista came out for my birthday. The kids love getting dressed up in princess/Woody attire!

We also went to the circus last weekend. The kids had a fun time riding elephants and playing with all the fun toys they got!

Birthday Dinner

This is the 3rd year that we've met some of my friends/colleagues at a German restaurant in town. There are 4 of us with back to back birthdays and this has become a fun tradition! Mom has been here helping us with Nadia so she was able to go with this year.

'The boot' is a MONSTER beer that someone at the table buys and is passed around. There are rules that you have to obey or you are forced to drink:

1. When you get the boot, you must say 'Hi boot'

2. You CANNOT let the boot touch the table

3. Before passing the boot on to the next person, you have to flick it

4. Because of the shape, beer tends to splash you in the face, if this happens, you have to take an additional drink.

Let's just say that my Mother broke every rule. Thank goodness I was the DD! :) She also got to experience the snuff (flavored tobacco) that they shoot up your nose.

The Bavarian Platter for 2 (Every Kuhn Man's dream)!!!!!! This will be about 6 meals for this household...

It was a fun night!

Gymnastics!

We finally got Nadia into gymnastics and she loves it!! It has been so much fun watching her and seeing how much she learns every week. She is by far the smallest kid in the class, but was able to reach all of the bars! I think her favorite part might be wearing her leotard...she has it on almost every day!
We spent a few days in ND celebrating the life of Darren's Grandpa, Martin Kuhn. For anyone who knew him or even had the chance to briefly meet him, he made some type of impression on your life. It was a sad occasion, but we enjoyed spending it with family and telling many 'Grandpa Martin' stories. Here are a few pics from the weekend.

Nadia loved playing with Hannah!!
Still obsessed with the iphone!

This was the poem that was read at the funeral. I had never heard it before and loved it!

I read of a man who stood to speak At the funeral of a friend. He referred to the dates on her tombstone From the beginning..to the end.He noted that first came her date of birth And spoke the following date with tears, 1964-1994But he said what mattered most of all Was the dash between those years.

For that dash represents all the time That she spent alive on earth..And now only those who loved her Know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own;The cars..the house..the cash,What matters is how we live and love And how we spend our dash.

So think about this long and hard. Are there things you”d like to change? For you never know how much time is left,That can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough To consider what’’s true and real,And always try to understand The way other people feel.

And be less quick to anger,And show appreciation more And love the people in our lives Like we”ve never loved before. If we treat each other with respect,And more often wear a smile..Remembering that this special dash Might only last a little while.

So, when your eulogy’’s being read With your life’’s actions to rehash..Would you be proud of the things they say About how you spent your dash?
