Tequila!!

We survived Mexico and Mexico survived us! :) We've been home for 4 days now and are still recuperating from all of the fun that was had. Lisa, Megan, Darren and myself flew down to Cancun last Wednesday. We had an early morning flight that took us through Dallas. We were all so excited to be on vacation that we decided to belly up to the bar in the airport and get started! We made it to the resort in one piece and anxiously waited for Erick and Heather to get there. We waited, and waited and waited and then finally decided to call it a night and leave them a message. Of course, they arrived about 10 minutes later.

Highlights from the trip
  • Swim Up Bar

  • Coba Maya Tour - Mayan Ruins, Jungle walk, kayaking, swimming in a Cenote, repelling and zip lining!

  • Couples massage with Lisa...very romantic

  • Snorkeling

  • Darren's victory in the Archery Contest with the grand prize being...a bottle of tequila!

  • Getting home to see the girls

While we were all basking in the sun and enjoying Dirty Monkey's, my parents were at our house taking care of Nadia and Nora. The first day was pretty overwhelming, but then they got into the groove and it was smooth sailing. It looks like they had a good time too!

I love this pic but didn't want to expose my child... :)

Chatty Kathy

I know that I said my next blog would be after Mexico, but I thought I'd do one quick update in between. When I picked Nadia up from Daycare yesterday, Julie told me "It's official. Nadia has moved to our bedroom for naptime." Apparently, when everyone is trying to go to sleep, Nadia stands up in her crib and tries to talk to everyone. She won't go to sleep and no one else can with her chatting. We're in trouble! :)

Nadia and I had a girls weekend while Darren was down in Dundas with Dion. We spent Saturday hanging out with our friends that we met while in the hospital. The babies are all growing so fast! As you can see, Nadia didn't like the cute headband that I bought for her. Dang!Nadia LOVES to play with other babies and crawled right up to Ryder and gave him a hug and a kiss. Baby Love!

We spent Saturday night at Lisa and Meg's to celebrate Lisa's 32nd birthday. We had a great night of hanging out with the girls and having a few glasses of wine. Nadia and Nora are getting to the age of acknowledging each other!
Darren spent the weekend with Dion. They went to a wild game dinner at the VFW. It was right up their alley and it sounds like they had a good time. I asked Darren what his favorite wild game was and his answer was "Buffalo." Is that really 'wild game' still???? :)

My next post will include pics of white sand and beautiful sunsets! We leave for Mexico on Feb 3rd. My parents are coming to watch Nadia and Nora...wish them luck!

Christmas part 2...FINALLY!

Once the fun was over in ND, we hopped back in the car for the 2nd part of our vacation. Thankfully, it's only about 5 hours to my parent's house from Lefor.

This is the 2nd year in a row that we've been with my family over New Years Eve. I actually made it up until 1 a.m.!! All of my cousins and Aunt and Uncle were over for dinner and games. We ended the night with a Wii Tennis tourney where my cousin Skylar beat Darren 2 times to claim the championship!

We had a great time hanging out with family and being able to see my brother and Heather. We sure do wish that they would move to MN and live closer to us! :)

We also ventured down to Evans Plunge which is an indoor, hot spring pool. It brought back many memories for me and was fun to take Nadia swimming.

Nadia is saying so many words now and has 'Papa' and 'YaYa' down...Grandma was just too hard!

Christmas part 1

We had a 2 part vacation over the Xmas break and were able to spend a lot of time with family. Our plans were excellerated by a few days due to the storm that came through the midwest. Luckily, Darren and I were able to get more time off and leave early to beat the weather.

We made it to the farm just in time to get snowed in for a few days. I haven't seen that much snow in a LONG time! We had a great time playing cards, taking naps and taking Nadia out to the mudroom to see the deer heads. She was OBSESSED with them and would have us take her to all 5 of them numerous times.

We also spent a lot of time EATING. Ugh. Don't get me wrong...it was all good, but UGH! Darren, Dorita and I spent one morning making noodles for soup. Everything is homemade on the farm!

We spent a day in Bismarck at Linda and Levi's house for the Kuhn family Christmas. It's always so much fun to get together with everyone. On our way to Bismarck, Dorita and I stopped in Hazen and met a friend of mine out for lunch. She also got to experience Hazen taco pizza which is by far, the best pizza in the world!

Here are some pics of our ND vacation. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

Here is a video of Darren and Nadia playing ball. She loves to play catch!

Happy Holidays!

We've been busy getting ready for the Holiday Season. I wish that I could say that all of the shopping is done, but we have barely begun!
My Mom was here last week to 'babysit' for us. I surprised her wtih a trip to Minneapolis to see the Nutcracker since she has always wanted to see it. My friend Lisa was able to go with us as well and we made it a true girls night with dinner, the Nutcracker, drinks and a hotel downtown. It was a blast! She also got to spend some quality time with Nadia and see firsthand that I'm not lying about the attitude that she is developing!

We are leaving for ND on Christmas Eve and will spend the evening in Fargo with my Uncle Steve and his family. We'll then leave Christmas morning to head back to Lefor for a few days. After that, we'll be off to SD to see my family. It will be a busy holiday with a lot of driving, but we are so looking forward to being with family for the Holidays.

Tis the Season

It's hard to believe that it will be Dec 1st soon and we have NO snow in MN!! Darren is hoping that we get some soon, but I am loving the late winter weather.

We spent Thanksgiving at Kevin and Ann Wittinger's house. It was a great day with good food, family and relaxation!
Minneapolis has a Holidazzle Parade every Christmas season that goes down Nicollet Rd. It's a parade where everyone wears lights and all of the floats are decorated with Christmas lights. We decided to brave the crowds and bring Nadia to her first Holidazzle parade. Great Great Aunt Kathy went along as well.
We all woke up Sunday morning to a light dusting of snow. We hopped in the car and drove to the tree farm and found the perfect Christmas tree. I have all bulb ornaments which might be a mistake...Nadia is obsessed with balls and she thinks that it is a tree filled with balls that she can play with!
We also had Nadia's One year and family pics taken on Saturday. If you'd like to look, go to http://www.studiohphotography.com/ and select On Line Proofing. You will see my name in the list. You will need to enter your email address to see the photos.
