Summer

Where has the summer gone??? I can't believe it's August tomorrow! I also can't believe that Nadia will soon be 9 months old. She has grown so much over the past few months and it amazes me how much she has changed. I noticed last night that she had her first tooth pop through her gums!

She just recently started standing up well as long as you give her some fingers to hold on to....

We went to the zoo last weekend. She loves animals, but was a little too sleepy to fully appreciate them this trip. Darren took her into the goat petting area and one of them decided that Nadia's hand looked tasty and put the whole thing in his mouth! She didn't like that very much!

This is a video of how Nadia likes to give kisses. She likes to slobber me up!!

It's been a while....

It's been over a month since I've given an update and figured it was time! I'll have to hand this off to Darren if I keep slacking like this! We've had a busy summer so far and I'm sad to think that it's already middle of July!

We spent the 4th of July in Hot Springs with my family and also threw my
parents a 60th birthday party. We spent a lot of time hanging out with family, scenic drives and even got to do some waterskiing! Nadia was able to meet her Great Grandma Field and the rest of the Field clan for the first time.

Nadia learned quite a few new things while we were vacationing...she can sit up on her own, she loves dogs and she will clap when you say patty cake! It was crazy how much she changed in the 10 days we were away.

She loved looking at the horses at my Aunt Sues.

We left SD and drove up to ND to spend some time with Darren's family. We spent some time on the farm and Nadia was able to go on her first 4 wheeler ride. We also were there to experience the crazy storms and tornadoes that ripped through Dickinson. What a mess that made!

I'm also very excited to announce the arrival of Nadia's new friend, Nora! My friend Lisa and her partner Megan had Nora on July 16th. She is a little peanut!

I'm also including a video of Nadia...she loves to clap now and we actually caught her in action!

Darren's hard work in the backyard is finally over!! We have a new sodded backyard fully equipped with a sprinkler system. It looks great!! Thanks to Dustin and Darrell for coming to help over the weekend, and thanks to Dion for helping out earlier weekends!

After all of the hard work on Saturday, we went to a Twins game. Nadia did great and seemed to enjoy looking around.
We went to Taylor's Falls on Father's Day with Dustin and Amanda. It is truly beautiful and we enjoyed being outside.
Nadia has started rolling over now and she just keeps going and going!! I found her in her crib this morning on her stomach and in the corner of her crib. I guess we can't leave her alone on the floor anymore!

We are headed to SD/ND next Wed and will be on a 10 day vacation!! Nadia hasn't been to Hot Springs yet and we are excited for all of the Field family to get to meet her. She isn't too excited about the outfit I have picked out for her! :)

Memorial Weekend

We had an action packed weekend over Memorial Day. Darren met most of his family in SD for his cousin Corey's wedding reception. Nadia and I unfortunately didn't make it since it was such a quick trip. We decided to stay home and met Hana and Henry at the zoo. It was such a beautiful day. Nadia enjoyed the people watching more than the animals so we'll have to try again when she's a bit older!

Darren made it home early on Sunday and went straight to work on our backyard. Darren put up a retaining wall in our backyard and rented a bobcat for Monday to dig up some land and level the area. Dion came up to help and Darrell, Dorita and Dana were there for a night as well. I'm so excited to have a nice BIG backyard!!

Milestones

Nadia has hit a number of milestones over the past few weeks. It is with extreme happiness that I announce she is sleeping through the night!!! Darren does the daycare drop off each day and he usually has to wake her up to get her ready.

Darren and I were eating dinner the other night and we looked back at Nadia and she was grabbing her toes. That is the first time we've seen her do that as well. I was so excited that I made my move to quickly grab my camera and knocked over a full glass of milk. Oops. I did manage to snap the picture.

Saturday marked a new adventure for all 3 of us. We tried to give Nadia cereal for the first time. She was not very excited and screamed for her bottle, but we will keep trying!! I'm including some videos of how inexperienced Nadia, Darren and I are in our latest adventure.

Marathon Weekend

Fargo Marathon
We just got home from a great weekend in Fargo. This was the 5th year that Darren ran the half marathon...this year he and Dustin ran the 2 man marathon relay and finished in 6th place!! My parents, Dustin and Amanda and Dana all came for the weekend festivities. The rest of us walked in the 5k and pushed Nadia in her stroller. It was so much fun to be a part of the marathon and for about 10 minutes I felt motivated to try and run a half myself. I think I'm over it already! :)

I've always known that my Dad was competitive, but he took it to the next level on Saturday. We were toward the back of the pack because Nadia got hungry just as the race was starting. We had to stop to mix a bottle before we could keep going. Dad was not excited that we were going to come in very close to last place and kicked it in full gear! He and Nadia left Mom, Amanda and I in the dust and was weaving in and out of the crowd to try and get ahead. Keep in mind we have a large stroller that he was trying to navigate. In doing so, he was cutting people off, coming close to clipping ankles and even was running at some point!! We ended up beating some people so mission accomplished, Dad!!

Easter

We all made the trip back to the farm over Easter weekend and had a blast! At the last minute, we decided to fly and were very nervous about having a screaming baby on our hands. Nadia was an angel on both legs of the trip! She slept and just sat there looking around without making a peep.

This was the first time that a lot of Darren's family was able to meet Nadia. Her Great Grandpa Kuhn had her belly laughing at one point and was always playing with her. At one point I overheard him say "You're already my girl, aren't you?" It was adorable!

Nadia's Great Grandma Maggie also enjoyed meeting her. Unfortunately, Nadia is not a baby that likes to be held very often, but we did manage to snap a picture before she started getting fussy. She is much happier on the floor where she can flop her legs down and for some reason likes to lay flat whenever she can.

Do you remember Nadia's full head of dark hair when she was born? She's taking after the Kuhn men where her hair is thinning on the top and she has rubbed a HUGE bald spot on the back.

It's calving season back at the farm and Darren was adamant that I go out and watch a calf being born. I couldn't bring myself to go out and watch the event, but Darren was kind enough to video tape it so I could witness the birth. If anyone is interested, I can burn a copy for you and you can enjoy it as well! :) He also brought a calf up on the porch so Nadia could see one. I think that will be more fun for her next year when she's older!!

ND was hit with so much snow over the last few weeks which started to melt when we were there. The fields were COVERED with water and is making life very difficult for Darrell and Dorita. Darren and I were able to go out on our first date in about 7 months while we were there! On our way home, Dorita called and told us that part of the road home was under water and to call when we got to that point. Darrell had to pick us up in the tractor and take us the rest of the way home. My husband knows how to show me a good time!!

My Dad was also able to join us in ND. Mom was down in AZ playing with her college friends so he decided to take a road trip.

I am including a video that we took of Nadia from Tuesday. She has turned into a giggle box and we finally caught it on video. I hope it brings a smile to your face like it does for Darren and I!!
